- Payment Token: Where the token is intended to function as a means of payment, AML (anti-money laundering) regulations are applicable. FINMA will not treat such tokens as securities.
- Utility Token: AML regulation applies to utility tokens that can also be widely used as a means of payment or are intended to be used as such (Hybrid Token).
- Asset Token: AML regulation applies to asset tokens that are hybrid and can be used as a means of payment or are intended to be used as such.
