FinTech License

FinTech License, as “promotion of innovation,” is available if a company:

  • is primarily active in the financial sector and accepts max. CHF 100 million public deposits

Note: If exceeded, notify FINMA and submit application for banking license.

  • does not invest or give interest on accepted public deposits
  • Minimum capital required: 3% of accepted public deposits; min. CHF 300,000
  • Must be fully paid-up and retained permanently (not loaned or invested)

Note: FINMA may require higher minimum capital based on risk of business.

  • Legal form: Corporation (AG) or limited liability company (GmbH)
  • Registered office and actual administration must be in Switzerland
  • Company must actually be managed from Switzerland
